Dr. Roy is a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon specializing in vitreo-retinal surgery.

He received his medical degree at Columbia University after attending the University of Virginia for his premedical studies.  He completed ophthalmology residency at St. Lukes Roosevelt in Manhattan, a teaching hospital of Columbia University.

He has completed a two year surgery fellowship at Retina Associates of New Orleans and also a pre-residency research fellowship in retinal electrophysiology at Columbia University.

Prior to joining Eye Care for the Adirondacks, Dr. Roy spent two years working with the underserved on the Navajo reservation in Arizona.  He has volunteered at children’s hospitals in Guatemala and India.  Beyond this, he is a member of See International a group that does expeditions to the third world to perform sight restoring surgery.

Dr. Joseph Rini earned his medical degree in Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed a Residency in ophthalmology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, and New York.

Dr. Rini is presently seeing patients in our Plattsburgh (450 Margaret St.) and Malone (75th Sixth St.) offices.

Dr. Rini is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and all ophthalmologic procedures.

Dr. Shalini Kapoor is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist originally from Montreal, Canada. Dr. Kapoor studied at the prestigious McGill University School of Medicine and trained in ophthalmic surgery at University of Texas Branch in Galveston.

She has been in practice for over 25 years and her expertise lies In both the practice of Ophthalmology and aesthetic medicine. Prior to joining Eye Care for the Adirondacks Dr. Kapoor was in practice in Southern California. She has been featured on shows such as Keeping up with the Kardashians, Southern California Life, and Winning with Wellness. She has been chosen as one of the Top Ophthalmologists in America by the Consumer Research Council of America.

 She has over 16 academic publications and has given numerous presentations on academic topics. She has been involved in numerous trials including: Lucentis/Avastin Intravitreal Injections study for DME, AMD, and Macular Drusen, as well as many others. Beyond this, Dr. Kapoor has taught many courses on laser surgery to train other physicians.

She speaks multiple languages including English, Spanish, French, Hindi, and Danish.

In her personal time she enjoys writing poetry, painting, singing, and gardening.

Dr. Dahlen, born in Frederikstad, Norway, is a board certified ophthalmologist, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and the founder of Eye Care for the Adirondacks. He received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. His internship brought him to the United States and he completed his residency in ophthalmology at West Virginia University.

Dr. Dahlen also studied subspecialties in glaucoma and retinal disease at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School in Boston.

He was Director of the Retina Service and Assistant Professor at West Virginia University Medical School prior to entering private practice in Plattsburgh in 1978, and retired from Eye Care for the Adirondacks in January of 2022.

Dr. Ivanna Grynyk received her doctorate degree from the SUNY College of Optometry after completing her bachelor’s degree in biology at Binghamton University. She then went on to pursue an ocular disease residency at the Baltimore VA, with an emphasis in various conditions including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. During her residency, Dr. Grynyk completed rotations in dry eye disease, corneal disease, and neuro-ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as post-surgical care at private practices in the area. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She is fluent in English and Ukrainian. Patients can be scheduled to see her in the Plattsburgh office at 450 Margaret Street.
A native of the North Country, Dr. Catton graduated from Saranac Lake High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from St. Lawrence University. He then received his Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Catton joined Eye Care for the Adirondacks in 2006 and has a special interest in ocular disease treatment and management including diabetic exams, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye.  He also performs comprehensive eye examinations and co-manages surgical patients. Dr. Catton is a member of the New York State Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He holds optometric licenses in both Maryland and New York.  Patients can be scheduled to see him at the Saranac Lake office at 51 Woodruff Street.

Dr. Erenstone is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1972.

Dr. Erenstone was in private practice in both Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, NY since 1972 before joining Eye Care for the Adirondacks at its Lake Placid location in 1999.

Dr. Erenstone’s areas of special interest include primary eye care, ocular pathology, and low vision. He can now be seen at our Saranac Lake office at 891-8412.

Dr. Erenstone is an adjunct staff member at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. He holds an optometric license in the State of New York.

Dr. Hayden Frechette is a native of Plattsburgh New York and graduated from the New England College of Optometry with honors in 2018.

Dr. Frechette’s passion lies in diagnosing and treating ocular disease, including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He specializes in the management of ocular surface disease, including dry eye from autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren’s syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, and post-operative side effects after cataract or LASIK procedures. He also specializes in hard-to-fit contacts such as those to correct astigmatism and presbyopia and routinely emphasizes patient education while utilizing aspects of both functional and lifestyle medicine to achieve lasting results.

Dr. Reidell graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University following a bachelor degree from Binghamton University.  While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, she completed an internship  in pediatrics, binocular vision and advanced studies in anterior segment disease. She also completed  an internship concentrating on contactlenses in Hatboro, PA and an internship at the VA hospital in White River Junction, Vermont.  At the VA hospital, she gained exposure to a wide variety of ocular diseases and emergencies.Dr. Reidell has received special recognition, making the Dean’s list at Binghamton University and receiving the Presidential Scholarship at Salus University.She is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.Dr. Reidell provides primary eye Care to patients of all ages.  Patients can be scheduled to see her at Eye Care for the Adirondacks, 450 Margaret Street, in Plattsburgh, NY
